New Catamarans, which one is right for your next charter

There is no disputing the allure of a yacht charter holiday, sailing through your select tropical destination is made all the more appealing when taken on a boat whose surfaces gleam, sails are crisp and fragrance that is of new leather, timber and wax all mixed with tropical sea air.

With the latest technology to guide you and all the modern home comforts on board, sailing these new boats has raised the level of appeal that is sure to convert the most reluctant recruits in your crew.

It is said that "every boat is a compromise"; I am not so sure that applies these days, for any given set of preferences there is the perfect boat to fit the charter client’s requirements.

I have detailed the key differences in the design concepts of these new boats.

Take a look at these new designs and let us know your travel plans. We will arrange for you to enjoy one of these fabulous boats.

New Medium Catamarans for 2012

Lagoon 400

Lagoon 400 - Thailand, Seychelles, Italy, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, Caribbean.

This new 400 is designed to Lagoons winning formula. A spacious saloon that extends seamlessly into the cockpit for entertaining. 4 double cabins, each with ensuites providing equal spaces and facilities.

Chartered by 4 couples provides the enjoyment of a luxury sailing holiday at a budget price with everyone getting the same value for money.

Lipari 41

Lipari 41 - Caribbean and Mediterranean

With the Lagoon range being made by the same company as Fountaine Pajot the Lipari 41 has to have a point of difference.

In this boat you will find the double beds are slightly wider and rather than an ensuite for each cabin one larger ensuite is shared between the 2 cabins in each hull. If your happy to share this makes the toilet and shower a more user friendly space.

Catana 42

Catana 42 - New Caledonia, Caribbean and Corsica.

This is a 5 cabin boat suitable for mixed parties or families. The 2 large aft cabins share good sized en suites and showers in each hull with a smaller double forward cabins. In the fore peak of the starboard hull is the skippers cabin that is comfortable but basic. The main point of difference of the Catana is the design focus is on performance with features such as dagger boards for windward sailing and reduced leeway.

Leopard 39 - Mediterranean, Caribbean, Polynesia, Thailand and Seychelles.

This uses the same hulls as the Leopard 38 with a new cabin and deck layout providing more hard surfaces. The appeal of the Leopard 39 is that the designers have not tried to do too much inside. With just the 3 double cabins they have been able to maximise the size of the cabins and the en suites. There are extra windows providing good visibility from the cabins and 360 degree views from the Saloon.

New Larger Catamarans for charter 2012

Lagoon 450

Lagoon 450 - Malaysia, Seychelles, Mediterranean and Caribbean.

The same winning design formula with the same layout as the Lagoon 400 only bigger spaces all round. The extra size allows for the fly bridge steering and even casual seating in a cockpit forward of the mast.

Salina 48

Salina 48 - Caribbean, Mediterranean and The Whitsundays.

The bigger sister to the lipari 41 is big.

There is plenty of room inside and out with large spaces and a luxurious fit out.

Bigger allows for the fly bridge helm station, no forward cockpit here instead expansive sunbathing spaces up front and even over the dinghy davits.

Catana 50

Catana 47 and 50 Carbon - New Caledonia, polynesia, the Caribbean.

True to form Catana have worked out that if they include carbon fibre in critical areas they save weight and increase performance.

With 4 double cabins and 2 singles this cat is getting into the big league. The helm is located to one side at the rear of the pontoon giving clear view of the sails and passage ahead. Not having the flybridge allows the sail plan to be lower, a lower centre of effort consistent with this pedigree that breeds performance.

The Catana 50 has everything the 47 has just more of it and more luxury designed into the extra space.

Leopard 44

Leopard 44 - Caribbean

Introducing a completely new model with some interesting features.

There is a forward cockpit but this one is accessible from the Saloon. The hard top extends over the forward and aft cockpits providing for an extensive living area. The charter version is a 6 cabin boat with the 4 double cabins having their own ensuite. The 2 fore peak cabins could only be for the very small members of your crew but the deck hatch access is made more workable having the forward cockpit entry into the saloon.
