Thailand to Malaysia - One way charters
An eastern escape like no other. These two Islands are like bookends for a chain of smaller islands taking you to the most enchanting of spots, each with their own flavour and character.
Clear waters provide for some good snorkeling over reefs of abundant small fish, identify the many birds, butterflies. monkeys, lizards and all sorts of diverse wildlife. Visit coastal forest parks and take excursions to points of cultural interest, dine on fresh fish at a beach BBQ and watch the sun go down behind your boat anchored in the bay or dine silver service at one of the many resorts. This one way sailing holiday offers everything.
A one way sailing holiday can be approached in either direction depending on the wind and time of year. In the months from November to April the wind is from the North East shifting to the South East for the alternate six months. In a straight line the distance between bases is 130 miles but with this itinerary you will most likely sail over 200 miles so about 2 weeks is recommended.
This is the one way sailing holiday that Sail Connections pride themselves at being the best in identifying and organising, ensuring you make the most of your time spent sailing.

22 miles accross the Andeman sea you reach the Island of Ko Lipe. Somewhere along the way you have crossed the border between Malaysia and Thailand. Ko Lipe is in the Butang group of Islands where you will spend the next couple of days. Pristine clear waters, fantastic snorkelling, white powder sand...and the welcoming sea-gypsy's settling on Ko Lipe. This is the advantage of charter cruising, to get away from the more developed Islands to what is pure paradise. You will notice the contrast to the Langkawi you just departed from. |
Day 6 - Ko Lipe to Ko Adang - 5 NM
|
From here the Islands of Ko Adang, Ko Ra and Koh Batang as well as smaller islands in the group are all within easy reach. These are mostly uninhabited islands of the Butang group. The longest sail during this cruise. 45 Nm through the deep blue waters of the Andaman Sea before arriving on the island of Ko Rok. Fantastic beaches without anyone there, the fisherman shrine, and pristine reefs for snorkeling. |
Day 9: Ko Rok To Ko Muk - 15NM

15 miles to the west of our rum line is another group of beautiful Islands around the main Island of Koh Muk. This is an optional detour if you wish to spend more time in remote places rather than the populated Islands around Phuket. Ko Muk has the most impressive Hong (cave) in Thailand. After a 100 m trip by dinghy inside a narrow cave you will arrive at an internal lagoon complete with a white sand beach. Magic! |
|
Day 10: Ko Muk to Phiphi. 35 NM
