About Yacht Charters in New Zealand

Auckland City is the gateway to the Hauraki Gulf cruising grounds, with over 76 islands for you to explore, and over 200 sheltered anchorages and miles of beautiful coastline all the way north to the Bay of Islands.

The Bay of Islands is also a renowned cruising destination which combines early New Zealand history with stunning natural scenery and marine life, only 3 hours drive from Auckland.

In the South Island, the Marlborough Sounds are a cruising paradise formed by a network of submerged mountain valleys, islands and tranquil sheltered bays, bush-clad hills and over 1500-km of deep-water coastline to explore.

Navigation

The two most popular yacht charter areas in New Zealand are the Hauraki Gulf and the Bay of Islands. Both feature many islands and miles of coastlines indented with sheltered anchorages. The Hauraki Gulf is protected on its outer extremities by the Coromandel Peninsula, Great Barrier Island and Kawau Island. Within are 1500 sq nautical miles of island cruising.

The Bay of Islands is a relatively compact area protected by the landmarks of Cape Brett and Ninepin Rock stretching just 11- miles across. However no Bay of Islands yacht charter is complete without exploring the beautiful coastlines both south and north from Tutukaka to Whangaroa which showcases a wonderful example of true New Zealand cruising.
